Introduction
Thank you for purchasing an Asanté FriendlyNET Bluetooth USB
adapter. This adapter allows a computer with a USB port to
communicate with other Bluetooth-enabled devices. When
used with the Bluetooth application software it can perform
wireless network applications such as information exchange,
file transfer, network access, dial-up networking and so on.
Works with Bluetooth-enabled devices and peripherals
including keyboards, mice, scanners, cellular phones,
Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and more
Transfers data with multiple levels of security including
Authentication, Authorization, and Encryption
Easy to install simply install the adapter into an available
USB port, run the Installation Wizard, and start using your
new adapter! No driver required if you are using Mac OS X
v10.2.2 and higher!

Windows 98SE, Me, XP, or Windows 2000; CD-ROM drive
Power Macintosh with with available USB port; Mac OSX
v10.2.2 and later; CD-ROM drive
Software Installation:
Follow the steps below to install the device driver and Bluetooth
Application software for your adapter.
Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP:
Please ensure that the device driver has been properly
installed before inserting the Bluetooth adapter into your
computer for the first time.
1. Insert the utility CD ROM into your computer.
3. Locate and double click on the file "Setup.exe" to launch the
Installation Wizard.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers, restart
your computer when prompted.
Mac OS X v. 10.2.2 and later:
No driver installation is required, Mac OS X should recognize the
device and install the driver automatically. Please check under
"System Preference" screen. If you see a Bluetooth logo, the
adapter has been properly installed and is ready to use.
Application Notes:
Consult the comprehensive Users Manual on the included
CD-ROM for instructions on using the Bluetooth Application
software and status monitor.
Supported Services (Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP):
Use the Bluetooth Application software to take advantage
of your adapter supported Bluetooth services:
Bluetooth Serial Port – establishes a Bluetooth
wireless connection between two devices. The
connection may be used by applications as though a
physical serial cable connected the devices.
Dial-up Networking allows a Bluetooth client to use
a modem that is physically attached to the Bluetooth
server.
Fax allows a Bluetooth client to wirelessly send a fax
using a device that is physically attached to the
Bluetooth server.
File Transfer establishes a Bluetooth wireless
connection that allows your computer to perform file
system operations on another Bluetooth-enabled
device browse, drag/drop, open, print, cut/copy, paste,
delete, rename, etc.
Information Exchange establishes a Bluetooth
wireless connection between two devices so that they
can exchange personal information manager data such
as business cards, calendar items, email messages, and
notes.
Information Synchronization establishes a
Bluetooth wireless connection between two devices
and uses the connection to synchronize Personal
Information Manager data between the two devices.
Network Access establishes a Bluetooth wireless
connection between the client and a server that is
physically connected to the Local Area Network. If the
client has permission (user name and password for the
LAN), the wireless connection can be used as if the
client were hardwired to the LAN.
